I. gimnazija Osijek is a general high school (grammar school) situated in
the centre of Osijek, Eastern Croatia.
General education curriculum makes I. gimnazija attractive to a large number of
students who are aged 15-18, although they lack larger school facilities. There
are 650 students in the school and 55 teachers. The school’s facilities
include: 14 classrooms,1 ICT lab, a library and a reading room. The students,
who come from different socio-economic backgrounds, get the same level of
education in foreign languages, science and social subjects. There are several
advanced groups that gifted students can join.
I.I.S.S “Enrico Fermi” is a secondary school situated in Lecce, Italy. The school, with a staff
of about 150 teachers and 950 students, represents a local cultural landmark in
the field of technology with its branches: Mechanics - Mechatronics - Energy,
Electrical Engineering, ICT, Telecommunication, Transports and Logistics,
Lyceum of Applied Sciences. It operates in a complex and varied socioeconomic
and cultural context with a relevant rate of unemployment, especially youth
unemployment. The majority of students are commuters, coming from the rural
areas of Salento. In a so varied school population, the school pays great
attention to motivate all the students in order to give them equal
opportunities and to encourage their human and cultural growth. The school
widens the educational offer by connecting the learning process with strategies
and activities that are intended to remove youth uneasiness, to re-motivate the
study, to reinforce the students’ knowledge, competences and abilities, and to
limit educational failure. Staff think that a school must insert the student in
a positive context, with more opportunities, giving different answers to
different needs. The school PTOF (three years academic plan) includes a section
with projects that increase the education provided, that develop transversal
skills and educational strategies to tackle dropouts and to help SEN students
to be actively included in school life. The school wants to support the awareness
of other cultures, to encourage and increase the efficiency of inter-cultural
collaboration among the students, teachers and parents,
IES Politecnico Jesús Marín is a General and Vocational Education School
comprising 155 teachers and 2,300 students located in Malaga, Spain. Besides courses on General Secondary Education, aged
12-18, we also offer Intermediate and Upper Vocational Training for students
aged 16 to different adult ages. The students who study come from different
family backgrounds. In addition to normal, well-organized, emotionally and
financially strong families, there are many students who face many
difficulties. Some of them come from unorganized or single parent families;
others are immigrants from non-European countries. In addition, there are students
with special needs that are successfully integrated into regular classes. In
such a diverse school population, the school attaches great importance to
motivating all students to give them equal opportunities and promote their
human and cultural growth.
The 2nd General Lyceum of Chania, Greece is a general education high school which hosts about
35 teachers and 350 students aged 16-18. The applied curriculum focuses on the
instruction of a range of subjects such as linguistic (modern and ancient Greek
language, literature, history, foreign languages), humanistic (social studies,
Arts, Finances), science (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology), technological
(computer studies) with a view to preparing students for the university entry
exams. The school follows an all-inclusiveness and “open door” policy and
caters for students of mixed abilities from various national and social
backgrounds. The students are highly motivated not only for academic
achievement but also for active participation in the school actions and beyond.
With regard to the socio-economical background of the students teachers can say
that the majority of the students come from a relatively well-off family
background. The school also hosts approximately 50 students of various national
backgrounds. There is also a considerable number of students whose one parent
comes from a different country (i.e. bilingual). Moreover, about 40 students
have been diagnosed with learning difficulties (dyslexia, attention disorder
etc).
Kepez Mahmut Celalettin Ökten Anadolu İmam
Hatip Lisesi in Antalya, Turkey is a
state Religious High School at secondary level for general education with the
students aged 10-18 (from 5th to 12th grades).
Students get education on Islam Religion such as Quran, Arabic and
other Religious matters besides the education on science, mathematics, social
sciences, foreign languages existing in the curriculum of all types of schools.
The school, founded in September 2016, has a new modern building with all kinds
of facilities such as ICT and Science labs, conference hall, library,
restaurant, a very big garden with many playing fields too and a luxurious
pension to host the students. It has interactive boards in all classes. There
are 480 students and 36 teachers in the school. 4 administrators work in
management as 1 principal and 3 manager assistants.143 out of 480 students are
secondary school students while the others are upper secondary school students.
The school is only for male students. The aim of the school is to donate
students not only with academic subjects but also with religious and moral
themes.
